Many heresies have been condemned by the Church

Spirituality

St. Alphonsus (1760): “If you neglect God’s call on this occasion, he may perhaps abandon you forever.  Resolve, then, resolve! ‘The devil,’ says St. Theresa, ‘is afraid of resolute souls.’  St. Bernard teaches that many souls are lost through want of fortitude.”

Doctrine

St. Jerome: “For if many heresies have been condemned by the Church on account of one word or of two, which are contrary to the faith, how much more must that man be counted a heretic who has invented so many perverse things, so many false doctrines!  He stands forth as the enemy of God and of the Church… The only people we do not welcome are heretics…” (Apology Against Rufinus – Book III)
