John Paul II, Sollicitudo Rei Socialis (#47), Dec. 30, 1987: “I likewise address this appeal to the Jewish people, who share with us the inheritance of Abraham, ‘our father in faith’ (cf. Rm 4:11f.) and the tradition of the Old Testament, as well as to the Muslims who, like us, believe in a just and merciful God. And I extend it to all the followers of the world’s great religions.”
John Paul II officially taught (in an encyclical addressed to the entire Vatican II Sect) that Jews who don’t believe in Christ “share with us the inheritance of Abraham, ‘our father in faith’…” That’s heresy because the New Testament teaches that only those who believe in Christ and are baptized are heirs of the promise made to Abraham.
Galatians 3:16: “Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his seed. It does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ referring to many, but referring to one, ‘And to your seed,’ who is Christ.”
Galatians 3:26-29: “… for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.”
As we can see, only those who have faith in Jesus Christ are the spiritual heirs of the promise made to Abraham. This truth is confirmed by the Magisterium, such as by the teaching of Pope St. Gregory the Great and Pope St. Leo the Great.
Pope St. Gregory the Great, Sermon on the Vigil of the Fourth Sunday of Advent: “And if you be Christ’s then you are the seed of Abraham [heirs according to the promise] (Gal. 3:29). If we because of our faith in Christ are deemed children of Abraham, the Jews therefore because of their perfidy have ceased to be his seed.” (Migne, Patrologia Latina, 76:1164)
Pope St. Leo the Great, Dogmatic Letter to Flavian (449), read at Council of Chalcedon (451): “The promises were spoken to Abraham and his seed. He does not say ‘to his seeds’ – as if referring to multiplicity – but to a single one, ‘and to thy seed,’ which is Christ (Gal. 3:16).
Note that Pope St. Gregory the Great explicitly says that Jews, because of their unbelief, have ceased to be the seed of Abraham. They are not heirs according to the promise (Gal. 3:29). John Paul II thus deliberately blasphemed Jesus Christ and denied Catholic dogma by his false teaching on this matter. His statement also means that Jews have faith, which is false. Jews do not have faith. Also remember that the clear teaching of Scripture on faith and morals constitutes a dogma of the Ordinary and Universal Magisterium. The truth that only those who believe in Christ are heirs of the promise made to Abraham is divinely revealed in the New Testament. It’s a dogma. It’s also confirmed by the Solemn Magisterium, such as in Pope St. Leo the Great’s dogmatic tome to Flavian (quoted above). The teaching of John Paul II’s encyclical Sollicitudo Rei Socialis on the Jews thus constitutes a blatant heresy against Catholic dogma. He was an apostate antipope
