Buddhism and Shintoism are, of course, false pagan religions. Shintoism is a blatantly idolatrous and polytheistic religion in which its followers worship many spirits and false deities. John Paul II explicitly expressed esteem for the false religions themselves. He was an apostate.
John Paul II, To A Group Of Buddhists And Shintoists, Feb. 20, 1980: “Venerable friends, representatives of Buddhism and Shinto in Japan, I am very happy to welcome you today… The Catholic Church expresses her esteem for your religions and for your high spiritual values, such as purity, detachment of heart, love for the beauty of nature, and benevolence and compassion for everything that lives.”
